😜It's not a good idea to have sex with the lights on.
😜It's not a good idea to eat ice cream without going to the gym.
😜It's definitely not a good idea to strut your stuff at a party when you are carrying 'extra' weight.
These were the beliefs that a recent client had about her body.
We unwound each belief and here's what we found:
😫I am so sick of seeing people sell weight loss as if it was the key to happiness.
😫I am so sick of seeing before and after weight loss pictures.
😫I am so sick of people saying that they lost weight and now their lives are perfect.
😫I am so sick of people glorifying weight loss as if it was some an heroic event.
What about our self-worth being connected to the
💙 way we treat ourselves and the kindness we share with others?
💙 service and work that we share with the world?
💙 our presence with our children and loved ones?
"It's easy for YOU to love your body you are thin."
In the past couple of weeks, a few people have said this to me.
It's an interesting comment.
Yes, I am thin. In the past, that didn't change the fact that I did not like my body. I was uncomfortable. I was constantly concerned about what I looked like.
I was afraid that food would make me fat. I compared myself to others.
Honestly, my body doesn't look any different now than it did then. I haven't lost a lot of weight. I don't come from big numbers. And yet I still didn't like myself. I still didn't appreciate my body.
I spent a lot of my life feeling bad about my body. I refuse to feel that way now. I refuse to apologize for being thin. I refuse to keep my message of body positivity quiet because I am thin.

his man has helped me heal my body in many ways. I remember when we were just dating. I was convinced that this beautiful sexy man wanted someone thin and skinny. In fact, I thought all men wanted women super thin and skinny. One evening he put his arm around my ribs. He touched the flesh so gently and lovingly said, "oh this feels so good. You didn't have this before." My mind started racing what? Is he telling me I just gained weight? And he's telling me he likes it? My mind did not know what to do at that moment. I didn't understand. I felt like I was in a different reality.
When I first found out I had an allergy to Gluten I was super bummed.
It was at a point in my life where food I had a lot of freedom around my food. I was no longer restricting and open to eating pizza pasta and desserts.
My initial thought was " Really??!!! I have FINALLY given myself full permission with my food and now I can't eat it!! WTF!"

I was taking a dance class and a thin woman asked me, "How do you stay so thin?" I paused. She said, "oh you probably don't eat bread and pasta or you probably exercise a lot."

I am a Queen

I have seen too many women trying to get a body that they think will finally make them happy. I have witnessed women scheming hard to 'get a man'. Somewhere along the way, they have forgotten that they are Queens.
How does a Queen hold herself?
A Queen commands presence. She is grounded.
With confidence and grace, a Queen knows she is beautiful.
More than ever I feel the importance and longing for the togetherness of women.
Women are powerful, insightful, deeply intuitive beings. When we gather we accentuate all these aspects. We are reminded that we are not alone. We can empower and support one another as we deconstruct belief systems, wounds, and walls that have been keeping us from having deep and loving relationships with ourselves and others.
This past Saturday I hosted 12 women at my home for my Lean Into Love body image workshop. During this workshop, we uncovered several common misbeliefs: My body is not good enough/thin enough/pretty enough. There was an over-all lack of body acceptance and a desire to change the body in order to feel good.
On January 27, 2002, I became a Reiki 1 practitioner. This forever changed my life. I found a new way of life on that day. After my Reiki 1 Class, I remember feeling so different and special while amongst friends; I felt like I had a secret. A secret way of being within myself. I am forever grateful to my Reiki master Carmen Larino for sharing Reiki with me and teaching me the Reiki principles with such passion.
This past year my face has been breaking out. Truth be told, I have suffered with breakouts on and off throughout my life. As a teenager I was put on oral antibiotics; this turned into Retin-A and finally Accutane. These ‘solved’ the issue for a while and then, periodically, my face would be in a red rage.
