Years ago, exercise was one of the ways I beat my body up. If I ate too much, I would over-exercise. I wouldn’t listen to my body asking for rest and would push myself through intensely challenging exercise routines.
Now I experience movement as a big part of self-care. Notice I said movement, not exercise. Exercise and Movement in relation to Self Care can look the same or drastically different. Some days, my morning exercise routine will be my self-care. Other days, slowing down to stretch during a workday on the computer or some family dancing in the evening will be my movement self-care experience.
Mornings at the Hartmann house is full of exercising, moving and grooving. This week I’m introducing my husband Olaf Hartmann. Olaf is a Movement Genius. He teaches Core Groove Workout, Qi Gong, and trains athletes. I've invited him to lead you in a movement exercise to help you connect with your body, release stress and fine tune your breath.
